Incumbent acting president of Nepali Congress (NC), Sushil Koirala has been elected as the new Nepali Congress president from the 12th Nepali congress Convention.
Koirala has secured 1652 votes, while his nearest opponent Sher Bahadur Deuba has secured 1317 votes. Some 3050 General Convention representatives had cast their votes.
He has become the sixth president of Nepali Congress (NC) and the fourth from Koirala clan.
